About Us

The Liberal Vannin Party was formed in 2006 at an inaugaral meeting at the Groudle Restaurant Isle of Man. From there an executive committee was formed and the party set about securing its recognition by the residents of the Island. At its first National Election in 2006 it fielded a number of first time raw apprenticed politicians and managed to secure 2 seats in the House of Keys. A short time later one of the sitting LV MHKs, Bill Marlarkey decided to resign from the party and stand as an Independant, albeit not seeking re-election, a position seriously crticised by his electoral constituency. Peter Karran was the only LV MHK left to try and secure an open and transparent Government. The party membership continued to grow assisted by the chairmanship of Kate Beecroft and the executive members. Many months prior to the 2011 National Election a number of members expressed their willingness to stand as prospective candidates and at the close of nomination day in 9 constuencies Liberal Vannin was represented.
In the National Election 2011 the LV Party secured 3 seats, Peter Karran, Kate Beecroft and Zac Hall being elected to the House of Keys. In 2011 Chief Minister Allan Bell appointed Peter Karran as Minister of Education & Children .
